allow ease
let the pendulum rest
Delaying leads to rushing, and overexertion leads to injury, and indecision leads to regret. The natural state is a cycling between rest and action. Both are essential. Both ought to be done for the proper duration, without excess nor deficiency. When we move or let ourselves be moved too far in one direction, the pendulum will swing the other way. The debt will be repaid with interest.
A task is easier than a project, and a step is easier than a hike, and right now is easier than a lifetime. When ease is missing, we might have an overly broad purview. What is the current step? What is the task at hand? What is the thing to do right now? By all means, plan ahead, but let each move inform the next. Allow the thing to be whatever it becomes, rather than strictly adhere to a plan that is already dated the moment it is penned.
Urgency is not presence, and numbness is not presence, and preoccupation with the past or the future is not presence. If ease is missing from the present moment, notice what is present. There is likely something here that is out of balance. If something is insisting, we can gently decline it. If something is yelling, we can gently quiet it. If something is worrying, we can gently soothe it. When we allow ease to fill each moment, our lives are filled with ease.
